Hike Martinique – Trail Info, Guides and Tour Operators
For some of the Caribbean’s best hiking, visit Martinique‘s Pitons du Carbet region. The area offers a variety of nice relaxing walks as well as some more challenging, mountainous (volcano) hikes. Hiking is a great way to explore the natural beauty of the island, and many Martinique hiking trails provide amazing panoramic views of the island and the Caribbean Sea from hill-top look-outs.
The best Martinique hiking trails in the Pitons du Carbet region (inland from the west coast towns of Le Carbet, Bellefontaine and Case-Pilote) include:
- Canal de Beauregard (Slave Canal)
- Easy: 1.5 hours, 2.5 miles (4km) (one way) with little change in vertical
- Trail with large trees follows an old irrigation canal on the side of a hill. Do not hike in rainy weather due to the danger of landslides.

- Piton Lacroix
- Difficult: 3-4 hours, 2.5 miles (4km) (return) with 5,000 feet (1,500m) change in vertical
- Steep and usually muddy rainforest trail to one of the highest peaks on the island. Rarely used and un-maintained.
