Grenada has a number of National Parks and Nature Reserves that are ideal for some more casual hiking and birding. The stunningly beautiful Caribbean scenery taken-in from Levera Hill and the Welcome Stone should not be missed!

The best Grenada hiking trails in Levera National Park (north-east tip Grenada) include:

  • Levera Pond Shoreline ‘Loop’ Trail
    • Easy: About 1.5 miles (2km) long, requiring less than an hour to complete
    • Information about this trail is TBC…
  • Levera Mangrove Boardwalk (From Levera Road – between Bathway and Levera Beaches)
    • Easy: Much less than a mile, requiring less than an hour (return), although you’ll want to stay longer to enjoy the tranquility
    • Boardwalk with observation tower is ideal for birding and relaxing.

The best Grenada hiking trails in Lake Antoine National Park (north-east coast Grenada) include:

  • Lake Antoine Shoreline ‘Loop’ Trail
    • Easy: Less than 2 miles (3km) long, requiring less than an hour to complete
    • Dirt road / trail includes a stop at a hill with great views of the crater lake and Atlantic Ocean

  • Welcome Stone / Levera Hill from Bathway Trail (north-east coast Grenada)
    • Easy-Intermediate: Just over 5 miles (9km) long, with an elevation change of over 800 feet (250m), requiring 2-4 hours (return)
    • This (mostly) road hike features a hilltop providing what may be the most picturesque Caribbean views in Grenada.  The sight of Levera Pond and a number of offshore islands is breathtaking!
  • Mount Hartman National Park Trails (south-east coastline Grenada)
    • Initially, 154 acres of unique dry forest woodlands and mangroves, the area is under constant threat of development…
    • Intended as a ‘birding’ paradise, this park is home to the last remaining endemic Grenada Doves. There is a visitor centre which should be able to help with trail information.
  • Morne Gazo Nature Reserve (south/central Grenada)
    • Easy: The main ‘loop’ trail is just under a mile (2km) long, with an elevation change of close to 300 feet (90m), requiring less than an hour to complete
    • An eco-tourism ‘birding’ site with rainforest walking trails, including a hilltop observation area with facilities and an amazing panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. 
  • Jessamine Eden / Grenville Vale Tropical Botanical Gardens (south-west Grenada)
    • A 60-acre estate with rainforest and an organic farm, just minutes from the capital St. George’s
    • Trails wind through the gardens and rainforest, complete with rivers and natural springs

Other short hiking trails can be found in south-west Grenada including: Beausejour River Trail; Mount Moriah (from Mount Moritz) Trail; Fontenoy Bluff (from Mount Moritz); as well as several southern peninsula coastal hikes through scrubland with stunning views out to sea.
