Jamaica River Rafting & Jamaica River Tubing – Locations, Guides & Tour Operators

River Rafting is a must for new visitors to the island.  There’s the slow (and mostly dry) ‘gondola’ type experience or there’s the fast-moving ‘whitewater’ rafting experience on inflatable rafts or tubes.

For a relaxing and romantic rafting excursion:

  • Probably the most famous rafting tour in Jamaica is on the Martha Brae, a meandering river close to Falmouth (pictured above and on the right)
    • Start at “Rafter’s Village”, six acres of grounds that include manicured lawns, Miss Martha’s Herb Garden, picnic grounds, a full service bar, two souvenir shops, a swimming pool and modern restrooms
    • A guide will pole you down 3 miles of quiet river on a 30 foot (9m) long bamboo raft
  • Similar rafting tours are also available:
    • Just west of Montego Bay on the Great River
    • Just south of Ocho Rios on the Thatch River
    • Just west of Port Antonio (at the east end of the island) on the Rio Grande river
