Popular Tourist Attractions in Bonaire include:
- At Echo’s Dos Pos Conservation Centre you can see parrots and bird watch in a dry forest environment. Guided tours are available. Located near GotoMeer lake at the north end of the island just below Washington-Slagbaai National Park.
- Bonaire Botanical Garden offers guided tours of the desert plantation. The Garden is located on the north-east coast, just east of Rincon.
- Bonaire’s Slave Huts & Obelisks are a preservation of where slave labour was used to collect and load salt onto ships. The four Obelisks were used as navigational beacons for the incoming ships. This site is at the south-west end of the island near the salt ponds.
- Mangazina di Rei Museum is the second oldest stone building on the island. Tours are available of the Monument with it’s indoor and outdoor “historical & cultural” displays. Located at Rincon, at the north end of Bonaire.
- The Cadushy Distillery is located in Rincon. While it does produce rum, it’s main products are liqueurs, dedicated to the Dutch Caribbean Islands.
- Aletta’s Goat Farm offers tours to see goats getting milked along with cheese making and tasting. The farm is on the north-east coast, just east of Rincon.
- To view flamingos, try the observation area at the saltwater lagoon GotoMeer at Bonaire’s northern end, just south of Washington Slagbaai National Park.
- There are also a number of dry and underwater caves to explore on the island…
- Kralendijk, on the west coast, is the capital of Bonaire whose town-centre is full of colourful homes and buildings. Shopping is available on and around the main street Kaya Grandi. Terramar Museum, in the center of town features exhibits showcasing 7,000 years of Caribbean and Bonairean history.
- Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire is home to over 400 donkeys. The sanctuary was established in 1993 to care for injured and orphaned donkeys and is located on the west coast, 10 mins south of the capital Kralendijk.
- Seru Largu is look-out point on a 330 feet (100m)+ hill with spectacular views of the island and Caribbean sea. It is located 4 miles (7km) north of Kralendijk.
- Bonaire’s first lighthouse, Willemstoren was built in 1837 and is located on the south-east tip of island

- 13,944 acre nature sanctuary for reptiles and birds including secluded beaches for nesting
- Bonaire National Marine Park – Covering all the waters surrounding the island, although typically centered around the island of Klein Bonaire
- 6,672 acre underwater park home to coral reef, sea grass, mangroves and a variety of sea life offering some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean
- The Pekelmeer Flamingo Sanctuary – At the southern end of the island
- Tourists are not allowed in the salt lake sanctuary, however the birds (10 thousand flamingos plus a large variety of other birds) can be viewed with binoculars from the nearby road (EEG Boulevard) or Pink Beach
- Bonaire Mangroves Center – Located on Lac Bay on the south-east part of the island
- Kayak and boat tours are available

Of course, there’s always beaches… Bonaire and Klein Bonaire have over 20 beaches – mostly on the islands’ western shores. Some have bright white sand that is soft to walk on, while others have darker and more coarse sand (with more visible shell/coral content).
