Grenada Hiking Trails – Summaries, Hiking Guides & Tour Operators

One of the best Caribbean hiking islands, Grenada offers a number of rain-forest, waterfall, and mountainous hikes. The ‘Spice Island of the Caribbean’ is very mountainous with a number of peaks above 1,500 feet (500m). The tallest peak on Grenada, Mount St. Catherine is 2,760 feet (840m) above sea level, rounding out the twenty highest peaks in the Caribbean.

Grand Etang Lake and National Park, with its iconic Crater Lake and nearby waterfalls and mountain peaks, maybe the most popular hiking destination in Grenada, although there are many other areas on the island to hike through tropical rainforests, and swim in pools at the base of a waterfall. Grenada even has dry scrubland hiking trails in the south. Not to be outdone, Carriacou also has a number of trails worth hiking…

There are more than a dozen hiking trails on the islands. Local Grenada Hiking Guides & Tour Operators who can get you on the trail are listed below…

The best mountainous hiking trails in Grenada lead to the top of Mount St. Catherine, located in the north/central area of Grenada and include:

  • Mount St. Catherine Trail from the East Side (Mount Horne)
    • Difficult: About 6 miles (10km) long with an elevation change of over 2000 feet (650m), requiring 3-5 hours (return)
  • Mount St. Catherine Trail from the West Side (Victoria)
    • Difficult: About 5.5 miles (9km) with an elevation change of over 2300 feet (700m), requiring 3-5 hours (return)
  • Either way – The amazing wilderness trail is moderately steep in spots. Enjoy spectacular ridge views along the way, culminating in panoramic sights of the island from it’s tallest peak!
  • Note: The above two trails can be combined into one for an exciting ‘Over Mount St. Catherine’ hike…
