Overviews of Grenada’s Best Waterfall Trails (Outside of Grand Etang National Park)
Grenada is known for its fabulous waterfalls, and there’s no better way to experience a fun and amazing Caribbean hike than to be rewarded with the sight of an amazing waterfall – Relax for a while and cool-off in the natural pool at the bottom!
The best Grenada hiking trails to waterfalls outside the Park include:
- Tufton Hall Waterfall / Victoria Falls (north-west central Grenada)
- Intermediate-Difficult: About 5 miles (8km) long, with an elevation change of over 1000 feet (330m), taking 4-6 hours (return)
- Grenada’s tallest (multi-level, cascading) falls and relaxing pool can be found after a wild hike up (in/out) of St. Mark’s River through thick, jungle rainforest.
- Golden Falls / Mount Horne Trail (north-east/central Grenada)
- Difficult: About 7 miles (11km) long, with a change in elevation of over 1000 feet (330m), requiring 4-6 hours (return)
- Varied terrain, including river walks, ridge trails, and some rock climbing… through the tropical rainforest to an amazing, secluded waterfall and pool. The “golden” coloured rocks at the falls are a result of an upstream sulphur spring.
- Paraclete Waterfall (north-east/central Grenada)
- Easy-Intermediate: Details TBD… 2-3 hours required (return)
- Two waterfalls can be found after a hike through a plantation and rainforest
- Concord Falls to Au Coin Falls and Fontainbleu Falls (west/central Grenada)
- Intermediate (rough terrain): Just over 2 miles (3.5km) long, requiring a couple of hours (return), although stays at the falls will extend that timeframe.
- Hike from the roadside Concord Falls through plantations filled with fruit and vegetables as well as thick jungle to the spectacular Fontainbleu Falls, complete with pool. A side trail goes to the even more remote Au Coin Falls.
- Adelphi Falls / Secret Falls (central Grenada)
- Easy: Less than a mile long, requiring under an hour (return), longer if you hang out by the falls / pool
- Remote / rarely visited falls with excellent shower/pool accessed via farmland and short rainforest trail
- Royal Mt. Carmel Falls / Marquis Falls (central-east coast Grenada)
- Easy: Less than half a mile long, requiring less than an hour (return) – probably more, as you will want to spend time at these falls
- One of the island’s largest and perhaps prettiest falls (with rock slides and pools) are located on a plantation and reached via a well-travelled river-side track.
- Black Rock Waterfall (location TBC)
- Easy: Less than a mile long, requiring under an hour (return), longer if you hang out by the falls / pool
- Little known / rarely visited falls with pool
FYI – Other waterfalls in Grenada include: Angel Falls; The Cross Waterfall; Hapsak Waterfalls and Hot Springs; as well as the Rainbow Waterfalls (St. Marks Mountains)
