With its healthy coral reefs and marine life biodiversity, Grenada is a top Scuba Diving destination in the Caribbean. With more than 30 dive sites, Grenada diving offers something for everyone. In terms of shipwrecks, Grenada has more divable shipwrecks than any other Caribbean island, and is home to the largest wreck in the Caribbean, the ‘Bianca C’. Considered by some to be one of the top-10 wreck dives in the world, the ‘Bianca C is the feature attraction of the Grand Anse Marine Protected Area, although there are also great reefs and other wrecks to enjoy in the area!

Some of the best Grenada diving on the west coast of the island can be found in St. George’s Harbour. Dive Sites include (from North to South):

  • Veronica L Shipwreck
    • The 120-foot barge rests in 50 feet (15m) of water and is now home to corals, sponges and a wide variety of interesting fish along with shrimp, crabs and eels. A great dive site for beginners and underwater photography. Also, a good spot for a night dive.
  • Red Buoy / Admiralty Anchorage
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 25 to 85 feet (8-25m) and features close to 2 dozen old anchors in the coral. A great dive site for experienced divers to see many ‘admiralty’ aged anchors stuck in the reef.
  • Northern Exposure Reef
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 25 to 70 feet (6-22m) and features a variety of large coral structures, sponges and sea fans as well as crustaceans, eels, and plenty of large fish along with the occasional turtle. A great dive site for beginners and underwater photography.
  • Japanese Garden
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 20 to 45 feet (5-14m) and features alternating soft coral reefs and sandy patches that are home to lobster, turtles and fish. A top Grenada dive site for beginners.
  • Boss Reef
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 20 to 80 feet (5-25m) and features a massive reef of finger and pillar corals along with sea whips, a variety of tropical and reef fish along with crustaceans, eels, octopus and rays.
  • Valleys
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 25 to 70 feet (8-21m) and features a sandy channel with a coral finger reef that is home to lobsters, crabs, and eels as well as a variety of fish. A good dive site for beginners.
  • Windmill Shallows
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 60 to 125 feet (18-40m) and features a sloped reef with a drop-off covered in soft and hard coral, gorgonians, sponges and anchors, as well as large fish and sharks. A great drift dive for experienced divers.
  • Rum Runner / Rhum Runner Shipwreck
    • A former tourist favourite, this catamaran lies in 100 feet (30m) of water and features soft corals and sponges as well as reef fish.
  • Southern Comfort
    • This dive site ranges in depth from 20 to 40 feet (5-12m) and features a sloping reef frequented by shrimp, eels and a wide variety of fish.

Some of the best Grenada diving on the west coast of the island can be found in the Grand Anse Marine Protected Area. Dive sites include (from North to South):

  • Tyrell Bay Shipwreck
    • The retired Coast Guard ship can be explored in 50 to 70 feet (15-20m) of water. Featuring swim-throughs for more experienced divers, the site can also be enjoyed by beginners.
  • Kansas Reef
    • This site features a lively reef ranging in depth between 45 to 170 feet (15-50m).
  • Bianca C Shipwreck
    • This massive 600-foot converted cruise liner known as “the Titanic of the Caribbean” can be found in 110 to 165 feet (35-50m) of water and is blanketed by sponges, corals and is home to eels, plenty of large fish, and rays as well as the occasional shark. Due to the depth and currents, this dive site is recommended for advanced divers only.
  • Whibbles Reef
    • The large dive site ranges in depth from 60 to 160 feet (15-45m) and features a drop-off, with brain coral, schools of fish, as well as lobsters, turtles, rays and the occasional shark. A great drift dive site for experienced divers.
  • Anina Shipwreck
    • This freighter rests in 100 feet (30m) of sea and features orange coral and tropical fish.
  • Unity Courier / 3 Part Shipwreck
    • Three chunks of this ship lie on the sand 40 feet (12m) below the ocean surface. This dive site is home to soft coral, large anemones, lobsters, fish and rays.
  • Quarter Wreck / ¼ Wreck Shipwreck
    • Parts of a cargo vessel can be found amongst a coral bed in water ranging from 20 to 70 feet (6-20m) deep and features lobsters, eels and rays. A good dive site for beginners and underwater photography.
  • Fiona Shipwreck
    • The barge, now an artificial reef can be explored in 55 to 70 feet (18-23m) of water.
