Hike Jamaica – Trail Info, Guides and Tour Operators
While the southern portion of the Blue Mountain range gets most of the attention, the northern part of the foothills, just south of Port Antonio, offers some great hiking. Quiet and remote, this area will show you all the natural beauty Jamaica has to offer!
The best Jamaica hiking near Port Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley include:
- Darley Trail
- 4 hour hike along the say river with waterfalls. Trail starts at Berridale and crosses the Rio Grande by raft.
- Stanton Trail
- 3 – 4 hr hike offers two loop trails. Trails begin at Stanton and offer a panoramic view of the Rio Grande.
- Plantation Trails
- 3 – 4 hr hike starts at Premiers Bananas and takes the Golden Vale route through banana & coffee plantations
- 2 – 3 hour hike is a loop that starts in Berridale and includes a tour of a local farm and plantation.
- Watch Hill
- Easy hike through banana and sugar plantations to a lookout point
The best Jamaica hiking at the east end of the island – Moore Town (3 hours south of Port Antonio)
- White River Falls
- Intermediate – Challenging
- 8 miles (12km) return requiring 7-9 hours
- Steep trail alongside the river encountering multiple waterfalls
- Millbank to Bath
- Challenging
- 12 miles (km) one way requiring 6 – 8 hours
- True rain-forest hike
- Moore Town Trail and Nanny Falls
- 2 – 3 hour dirt road hike starts in Mooretown on its way to a swim in Nanny Falls.
- Cornwall Barracks and Dry River Falls
- 3 – 4 hour loop starts at Cornwall Barracks, crosses a swinging bridge over the Rio Grande on it’s way to Dry River Falls. The return trail takes in more of the Rio Grande Valley as well as Maroontown.
