Bonaire Snorkeling Sites North of Kralendijk
With it’s healthy coral reefs and rich marine life, Bonaire snorkeling is one of the best (Top 3) islands in the Caribbean! The island is encircled by coral reefs providing amazing biodiversity including colourful fish, coral, sponge and more. There are plenty of spots on Bonaire’s western shores where you can slip into the warm Caribbean sea and snorkel right off the beach. There are also a number of boat operators who can take you to plenty of other locations in Bonaire’s Marine Park, where you can visit shallow corals on the edge of steep underwater cliffs that plunge into the deep. Visibility is great as you can clearly see through more than fifty feet (15m) of Bonaire’s clear blue ocean. Bonaire’s West Coast – North End / Washington-Slagbaai National Park
- Playa Bengi – This spot starts around 15 feet deep and offers views of healthy coral as well as large fish
- Bise Morto – This spot is beach accessible! Views start around 20 feet deep and offers the prospect of rays, as well as whales and the occasional shark
- Boka Slagbaai – This spot is beach accessible! This area has a nice sandy bottom and starts around 20 feet deep, offering views of corals, rays and eels
- Wayaka – This spot is beach accessible! This shallow area offers views of parrotfish and angelfish
- Karpata – Located just outside Washington-Slagbaai National Park, this spot is beach accessible! Snorkeling starts around 20 feet deep and offers views of corals (along with embedded anchors), a large variety of fish as well as turtles. A great location for underwater photography.
Bonaire’s West Coast – North of Kralendijk (from north to south)
- Ol Blue / Tolo – This spot is shore accessible! Good snorkeling starts around 20 feet deep and offers views of angel fish and schools of small fish as well as the occasional shark
- 1000 Steps – This spot is beach accessible! This shallow spot offers views of turtles and rays along with a wide variety of fish including parrotfish, angelfish and doctorfish. Further offshore you can see a variety of corals and sponges along with durgeons, filefish and large night sergeants and angelfish
- Weber’s Joy / Witch’s Hut – This spot is shore accessible! Snorkeling starts around 20 feet deep and offers views of sponges as well as a variety of fish including angelfish and butterfly-fish. A great location for underwater photography.
- Jeff Davis Memorial – This spot starts around 20 feet deep and offers views of a variety of marine life such as corals, gorgonians as well as turtles and seahorse
- Kalli’s Reef – This spot starts around 30 feet deep and offers views of a variety of marine life including turtles and seahorse
- Oil Slick Leap – This spot has a number of caves to explore. Gorgonians and shells can be seen here along with fish including barracuda
- Barcadara – This spot starts around 30 feet deep and offers a variety of marine life including coral and blue tangs
- Andrea (1 and 2) / Pali Coco – This spot starts around 20 feet deep and offers views of corals / anamones as well as seahorses and parrotfish. Great for beginners!
- Small Wall – This spot starts around 20 feet deep and offers a steep underwater cliff with caves
- Cliff – This spot is beach accessible! This spot starts around 20 feet deep and offers views of a variety of marine life as well as Capt. Don’s underwater stone memorial. Great for beginners!
- La Marchaca / Habitat – This spot is shore accessible! Snorkeling starts at 20 feet and features a wreck in 50 feet of water
- Reef Scientifico – This spot is shore accessible! Snorkeling starts at 20 feet and offers views of parrotfish and eels
- Buddy’s Reef – This spot is shore accessible! Snorkeling starts at 30 feet and is great for beginners
- Bari Reef / Sand Dollar – This spot is beach accessible and offers a very large variety of fish. Great snorkeling starts around 30 feet deep.
- Front Porch (Eden Beach/Coc Beach/Sunset Beach)- This spot is beach accessible! This spot starts around 15 feet deep and offers views of a large variety of fish as well as a sunken upside tugboat. Great for beginners!
- Something Special (Kralendijk Marina) – This spot has a sandy bottom and is shore accessible! This is a great drift snorkel that starts around 20 feet deep and offers close to a hundred varieties of fish. Great for beginners!
