Clarke’s Court Rum Distillery (AKA Grenada Sugar Factory; AKA Grenada Distiller Ltd)
The self-proclaimed ‘largest and best-known distillery in Grenada‘, the Clarke’s Court Rum distillery has been in operation for over 80 years. Clarke’s Court rum products, formerly marketed under the Tradewinds and Red Neck brands, now include:
- Flavoured (Lemon, Mojito, Sorrell, Coconut and Passion Fruit) rums
- Superior Light (White) rum, and Special Dark rum
- Pure White overproof (69%) rum
- Black Gold (nutmeg) spiced rum
- Old Grog and Extra Old – Old Grog aged rums
- Clarke’s Court #37 (aged for 8 years)
- Comerhogne (Amerindian name for Grenada) Liqueur
Guided tours of the historical site are available where you’ll learn about the history of the distillery as well as the rum-making process. The short tour ends in the Hospitality Center where a range of Clarke’s Court rums can be sampled and purchased.
Westerhall Estate
Blending and bottling quality rums (from imported base materials) for domestic and international markets for decades, Westerhall produces a variety of aged, spiced and flavoured rums including:
- 12 Degrees White Rum (aged for 2 yrs). Available in the UK as Rum #2
- White Jack and Jack Iron (Dark) overproof (69%) rums
- Rum #3 and Rum #7 (aged for 3 and 7 years respectively)
- Plantation Rum (aged for 5 years). Available in the UK as Rum #5
- 10XO Rum (aged for 10 years). Available in the UK as Rum #10
Westerhall Estate offers inexpensive tours of the estate grounds and small museum where you learn about the history and future of the estate/distillery. Complete the tour with rum tasting and shopping for your favourite Westerhall rum(s) to take home.
River Antoine Estate
Perhaps the oldest distillery in Grenada dating back to the 18th century, the small River Antoine Estate distillery still makes rum with traditional methods. Their rum products include:
- Rivers Rum Punches in a variety of flavours – Passionfruit; Sorrel; and Hurricane (passionfruit, orange, pineapple & pomegranate)
- Rivers Chocolate Creme Liqueur
- Royale Grenadian Overproof (69% – 75%?) rum
Short tours of the distillery along with the history of rum-making are available – Be sure to check out one of the Caribbean’s oldest functioning watermills. Rum tasting is available, however may be limited to products being made at the time…
Renegade Rum
A new company, with a unique approach to rum-making started up operations in 2016, and has recently produced their first bottles of Grenada rum. Using their own cane sugar fields, Renegade Rums are made like the Rhum Agricole of the French Caribbean, that is by using the cane juice directly and bottling distinct brands by ‘terroir’ (specific cane field) and aging. Their rhum products include:
- 9 white rhums (From various distillation methods and Terroirs)
- a couple of aged rhums (Etudes – New Bacolet; Etudes – Pearls)
