The ‘Nature Isle’ is extremely mountainous with about a dozen peaks above 1,500 feet (500m). The tallest peak on Dominica is Morne Diablotins, which at 4,747 feet (1,447 m) above sea level, makes it the ninth tallest in the Caribbean. For really unique adventures, Dominica hiking offers a trail to the second-largest thermally active “hot spring” in the world, Boiling Lake – which is literally ‘boiling’, as well as a (in the) river trail to Victoria Falls.

  • About a mile (1.5km) round trip requiring 1–2 hours

Backpacking and camping

If you’re interested in multi day hikes in Dominica, click on the Waitukubuli National Trail – 115 miles (184 km) of trails from one end of Dominica to the other.

Camping in Dominica’s National parks and Reserves is not permitted, however there are a few privately owned / operated campsites, as well as a number of ECO-Lodges and B&Bs for backpackers to stay.
