The Best Grenada Dive Sites in the Carriacou Marine Park
With its healthy coral reefs and marine life biodiversity, Grenada is a top Scuba Diving destination in the Caribbean. Carriacou is aptly known as the ‘Island of Reefs’ and is home to a couple dozen dive sites. Some of the best Grenada dive sites in the Carriacou Marine Park include (from north to south):
- Westsider Shipwreck
- The 100-foot tugboat sits in 90 feet (28m) of water. This artificial reef features a variety of coral, along with lobsters and large fish. A great dive site for underwater photography. Due to the depth, this dive site is recommended for advanced divers only.
- Boris Shipwreck
- The 100-foot tugboat sits in water ranging from 50 to 80 feet (16-24m) of water and features a variety of encrusted coral, along with large fish. A good spot for a night dive.
- Rock Garden
- This dive site has a maximum depth of 60 feet (18m) and features a reef plus a sandy bottom that is home to rays. A good dive site for beginners.
- Sharky’s Hideaway / Sharky’s Part 1
- This dive site ranges in depth from 40 to 70 feet (12-22m) and features a diverse reef landscape complete with a wall/cliff, overhangs, caves and canyons. There are corals and sponges along with a variety of schools of fish as well as eels and of course, sharks. A great drift dive site for underwater photography.
- Mabouya Garden
- This dive site features a coral reef and an abundance of aquatic life including schools of fish as well as lobsters, turtles, eels, rays and sharks. A good dive site for both beginners and experienced divers.
- World of Dreams
- This dive site has a maximum depth of 70 feet (21m) and features a sloping reef with a variety of marine life.
- Sharky’s Hideaway 2/ Sharky’s Part 2
- This dive site has a maximum depth of 40 feet (12m) and features a shallow reef along with large boulders that are home to lobsters, eels, rays and sharks. A good dive site for beginners to drift dive.
- Whirlpool
- This dive site has a maximum depth of 90 feet (27m) and features a reef, a wreck, boulders as well as bubbles from volcanic activity beneath the ocean floor. A great dive site for beginners.
- Sandy Island Garden
- This dive site ranges in depth from 20 to 60 feet (6-18m) and features a ridge reef home to plenty of fish along with turtles, rays and maybe even seahorses. A good site for beginners to drift dive as well as for underwater photography.
- Sandy Island Lighthouse / Divers Surprise / Sandy Island Drift
- This dive site ranges in depth from 20 to 70 feet (6-21m) and features a sloping reef as well as crustaceans, eels, turtles, rays and large fish. A good dive site for underwater photography.
