Hike Jamaica – Trail Info, Guides and Tour Operators
A hilly/mountainous region of note in the north-west/central part of Jamaica is the Dry Harbour Range with it’s lesser known or visited Cockpit Country. This is probably the wildest area left on Jamaica. Cockpit Country is a jungle landscape wrinkled and dimpled with hundreds of limestone hills and karst caves and is home to a few hidden trails worth exploring for a great Jamaica hiking experience.
Jamaica hiking in Cockpit Country include:
- The Troy – Windsor Trail
- Challenging (endurance)
- 10 miles (16km) one way requiring 7 – 9 hours
- Trail follows the route of a British military road built in the 1700s / Starting at Windsor gives more of an uphill trek
- The Quick Step Trail
- Challenging (endurance)
- 11 miles (18km) one way requiring 8 – 10 hours
- Trail runs from Windsor to the village of Quick Step
- The Windsor loop
- Easy
- 3 miles (5km) loop requiring just over an hour
- This route travels along the Troy Trail to Bamboo Bottom and Guthries before returning to Windsor
- Burnt Hill Nature Trail
- Intermediate (duration)
- 10 mile (16km) one way, requiring about 4 hours
- Trail runs between Albert Town and Clark’s Town

Jamaica hiking near Ocho Rios:
- White River Trail
- 5 – 6 hour challenging hike starts at Millbank and follows the White River to Seven Falls. The return trail follows higher ground providing excellent views.
Jamaica hiking near Montego Bay:
- Mount Zion
- Easy – Intermediate
- 5 miles (8km) round trip
- Trail from Montego Bay to the town of Mount Zion (one of many on Jamaica) with a church and rum shop
