Saint Lucia Dive Sites and Boat Operators
One of the better islands in the Caribbean for diving, Saint Lucia offers a variety of dive sites along the western coast of the island – There are close to two dozen dive sites with reefs, wrecks and walls to explore. If you’ve always wanted to try scuba diving, Saint Lucia is a great place to get started – there is a dive school on the island and a number of hotels on the island offer diving PADI certification as well.

The best Saint Lucia diving sites north of Castries include:
- Saline Point
- Protected from the wind, this reef site has a sandy bottom with a depth varying from 12 to 60 feet (4m – 18m). A variety of tropical fish, along with rays and eels can be found here.
- Smugglers’ Cove
- Located off the beach near the Hideaway (Royalton) Hotel, this large bay is well protected from the wind and with a maximum depth around 40 feet (12m), this a great place for beginners. Underwater ridges are home to a variety of crustaceans and tropical fish.
- Bird’s Rock / Black Rock
- There are several coral reefs off the coast from Pigeon Island which feature a sandy bottom with a maximum depth of 60 feet (18m). A variety of tropical fish, along with rays, barracuda and eels can be found here. A good dive site for underwater photography.
- Pigeon Island / Pigeon Point
- This popular dive site at the base of Pigeon Point includes a mixed terrain of sand, coral and boulders with a depth varying from 15 to 60 feet (5m – 18m). A variety of tropical fish, along with rays, barracuda, eels, lobster and even seahorse can be found here. A good dive site for underwater photography and night dives.
- Berger Rock
- This dive site, marked with a flashing buoy is home to a large variety of tropical fish. The water depth varies between 25 to 45 feet (8m – 14m). A large variety of tropical fish, along with lobster can be found here. Popular for night dives.
- La Roche (The Rock) / Barrel ‘O’ Beef / La Wash
- This small island off the coast of Rodney Bay features an amazing variety of terrain including large deep trenches with a maximum depth of 60 feet (18m). An assortment of tropical fish, along with barracuda and lobster can be found here. A great dive site for underwater photography, drift dives and night dives.
- Bone Yard
- A World War II era wreck can be found off the coast of Castries in about 40 feet (12m) of water. A variety of marine life, including tropical fish and lobster can be found here.
The best Saint Lucia diving sites South of Anse La Raye include:
- Anse La Raye Wall
- This fairly deep dive site features volcanic boulders and a coral wall with a depth varying from 60 to 110 feet (18m – 34m). The wall is home to a variety of marine life, including corals and tropical fish, along with rays (for which the bay is named after). A good dive site for wall diving and drift dives.
- Virgin’s Cove
- This shipwreck offers some of the best coral and marine life found off the shores of Saint Lucia. With a maximum depth of around 70 feet (21m), this site is full of coral and sponges, and a variety of crustaceans, eels and turtles can be found here.
- North Anse Cochon
- This dive site includes a mixed terrain of sand, coral and boulders with a depth varying from 5 to 50 feet (1.5m – 15m). A variety of tropical fish, along with turtles, octopus, squid, and eels can be found here. A great dive site for underwater photography, drift diving and night dives.
- South Anse Cochon
- This dive site includes a mixed terrain of boulders, reefs, walls and pinnacles with a maximum depth of 40 feet (1.5m – 12m). A variety of tropical fish can be found here. A great dive site to experience a variety of underwater environments.
- Rosemond’s Trench
- This shallow dive site features volcanic rock and coral trenches and a maximum depth of 35 feet (11m). An assortment of corals and tropical fish, along with turtles and seahorse can be found here.
- Lesleen M Wreck
- A cargo vessel was sunk here for an artificial reef in about 65 feet (20m) of water on a sandy bottom. A variety of marine life, including reef fish, eels and lobster can be found here. This a good dive site for beginners.
- Daini Koyomaru Wreck
- A dredger sits on its side a mile offshore, making an artificial reef in about 244 feet (75m) of water. A variety of marine life, including tropical fish and barracuda can be found here. This a deep dive site is for advanced divers only.
- Turtle Reef
- This fairly deep dive site features a large diversity of marine life, featuring pillar corals and huge sponges with a depth varying from 40 to 140 feet (12m – 43m). A wide variety of fish and a few turtles can be found here, making it one of the best locations in Saint Lucia.
- Anse Chastanet
- This shallow reef is home to a large diversity of marine life, with a depth varying from 15 to 60 feet (5m – 18m). A variety of tropical fish, along with turtles can be found here. This a great dive site for beginners and underwater photography.
- Fairyland
- This fairly deep dive site features boulders and coral walls with a depth varying from 40 to 200 feet (12m – 61m). A variety of corals and sponges are the stars, although turtles can be found here as well. This a good dive site drift diving.
- Grand Caille / The Big House
- This dive site features a long coral wall with a depth varying from 40 to 130 feet (12m – 40m). Along with colorful coral, a variety of fast swimming fish can be found here.
- Devil’s hole / Trou Diable
- This reef dive site features, corals and sponges, along with a variety of fish.
- Keyhole Pinnacles
- This fairly deep dive site features four volcanic spires and a coral wall with a maximum depth of 130 feet (40m). An assortment of corals, sponges and sea fans, along with a variety of fish and eels can be found here. A good dive site for underwater photography.
- Superman’s Flight
- In the shadow of the Petit Piton, this deep wall dive can take you to a depth of 1500 feet (460m). An assortment of corals, gorgonians and sponges, along with tropical fish and turtles can be found here. A good dive site for drift diving and deep diving.
- Jalousie / Piton Wall
- At the base of the Gros Piton, this dive features a colourful coral wall with a maximum depth of 130 feet (40m). An assortment of corals, gorgonians and sea whips, along with tropical fish and turtles can be found here. A good drift dive site.
- Coral Gardens
- Also located at the base of the Gros Piton, this long and popular reef has a depth varying from 15 to 90 feet (5m – 27m). An assortment of corals, tropical fish and eels can be found here, making it a good spot for beginners.
