Saint Kitts and Nevis Dive Sites and Boat Operators
One of the better areas in the Caribbean for diving, Saint Kitts and Nevis offer a variety of dive sites in both the Atlantic and Caribbean seas around the islands – There are over two dozen dive sites with reefs, wrecks and walls to explore. There’s something for divers of all skills to enjoy. If you’ve always wanted to try scuba diving, Saint Kitts is a great place to get started – there is a dive school on the island that offers diving PADI courses and certification.

The best St Kitts diving sites include:
- Coconut Tree Reef
- One of the area’s largest reefs, this site has a variety of corals at a depth of about 40 feet (12m), along with a wall that plunges to 100 feet (31m). A variety of fish, including barracuda, grunts and snapper, along with eels and the occasional turtle and nurse shark can be found here.
- Coconut Shallows is an extension of the Reef with a depth varying from 35 to over 80 feet (11m – 24m), that is home to barracuda, blue runners, wrasse, grunts and snappers as well as turtles, lobster, rays and lots of moray eels.
- Green Point Reef
- Full of sea life, this reef site has a depth varying from 25 to over 50 feet (8m – 15m). A variety of soft corals, sponges and sea fans, along with angel fish, snapper, grouper, lobster, sting rays and hawksbill turtles can be found here. A great site for mild drift diving.
- Monkey Shoals (AKA the Donut)
- Situated between St. Kitts and Nevis, this collection of sites has a depth varying from 40 to over 100 feet (12m – 31m). The large coral atoll is home to scorpion fish, lobster, nurse sharks as well as the unique flying gurnard. A great site for occasional mild drift diving.
- Coral Gardens
- Next to / part of Monkey Shoals, this gentle drop-off has corals and large fish to see
- The Vents
- This unique coral site has a depth varying from 35 to 95 feet (11m – 29m). Here you’ll find black corals, wire coral and sponges as well as amazing hot water vents. Barracuda, stingrays and lobsters can also be found here.
- Nags Head
- Located where the Atlantic and Caribbean Seas meet, this reef has a depth varying from 20 to 80 feet (6m – 24m). Full of Marine life including corals, sponges, grasses, large sea urchins and rays, the strong currents are for experienced divers only. A great site for drift diving.
- Sandy Point Reef
- Consisting of Anchors Away and Paradise Reef, this long site ranges in depth from 50 to 130 feet (15m – 40m). One of the healthiest coral reefs in the area can be found here, along with plenty of marine life and swim-throughs. Angel fish, barracudas, small turtles, eels and lobsters can be found here.
- The Brassball Wreck
- This shipwreck is a great spot for novice divers as the depth is less than 25 feet (8m)
- The River Taw
- The most famous / popular of the island’s shipwreck, the freighter is now in two pieces on the sandy bottom at 40 feet (12m) of water. Plenty of coral, reef fish can be found here, as well as lobsters, octopus, turtles and sting rays. Feeding the fish is allowed here, making it a great place for novice divers and underwater photography.
- The Corinthian (AKA the Tug)
- This tug boat wreck and reef system sits on a sandy bottom in a depth varying from 30 to 65 feet (9m – 20m). It’s an easy dive with plenty to see, and fish feeding is allowed here as well. A great site for novice divers.
- The Talata
- This wrecked freighter is in pieces on a reef near Basseterre harbour in just over 55 feet (17m) of water. This popular site has corals and well as barracuda, snapper, squirrel fish, puffer fish, lobster and even a volcanic vent. A good site for novice divers and underwater photography.
- Black Coral Reef
- This reef and wall has a depth varying from 30 to 80 feet (9m – 24m). As the name suggests, black coral abounds, as do a variety of reef fish. A good site for wall diving.
- Ponds Bar
- A small wall ranging from 30 to 50 feet deep (9m – 15m), this reef is home to large barracuda and turtles
- Brimstone Shallows
- This diverse dive site has a reef and wall with a depth varying from 50 to over 100 feet (15m – 31m). A variety of corals, sponges, reef fish, turtles, eels and the occasional reef shark can be found here.
- Bird Rock Reef
- This shallow (35 feet / 11m at the deepest) reef can be enjoyed from shore or a boat. You may spot octopus, lobster, eels, turtles, rays and maybe even seahorses at this site.
- Finger Reef
- This reef / ridge has a depth varying from 60 to 130 feet (18m – 40m). Schools of fish can be seen here, although this is for experienced divers only.
- Friars Bay Reef
- This site has a maximum depth of 50 feet (15m) and is home to reef fish, rays, lobsters and eels. A great site for novice divers
- Frigate Bay Reef
- This narrow reef has a depth varying from 30 to 70 feet (9m – 21m). This site is home to turtles, lobsters and eels.
- Turtle Bar Reef
- This shallow reef has a volcanic rock bottom with a depth varying from 15 to 40 feet (5m – 12m). schools of reef fish, along with turtles (no surprise) can be found here.
- The Aquarium
- This challenging dive site has a depth varying from 60 to 90 feet (18m – 27m). A variety of fish along with sting rays and nurse sharks can be found here. The rough seas make this a site for experienced divers only.
- Grid Iron
- Located on the Atlantic side of the island, this site has a depth varying from 50 to 80 feet (15m – 24m). Plenty of diverse marine life can be found here.

- The Ledge
- This bank has a depth varying from 30 to 60 feet (9m – 18m). Plenty of nurse sharks s and moray eels can be found here. A great site for underwater photography.
- The White Hole
- Located at the south end of Monkey Shoals, this site has a maximum depth of 40 feet (12m). This site is home to a variety of sponges, tropical fish, rays and lobsters.
- Clyde’s Reef
- This sandy reef has a maximum depth of 45 feet (14m). This site is home to moray eels, reef fish and turtles.
