  • Nelson’s Dockyard, restored to its 18th-century origins, includes a marina, hotel, shops and restaurants. Rich in British Navy history and now one of Antigua’s most popular tourist areas, this historical site is located in English Harbour.
  • Shirley Heights is the site of a former military lookout and gun battery positioned above English Harbour. Now this location provides one of the most sought out views on the island – Spectacular views of English Harbour, Falmouth Harbour and the Caribbean Sea!
  • Nearby is also the Blockhouse historical site as well as the Dow’s Hill Interpretative Centre, featuring historical exhibits of the island.
  • Stingray City is a unique experience where you can swim with and even touch the gentle creatures in the ocean. Located on the east side of the island.
  • Fort James is the remains of an early 18th-century military post guarding the entrance to St. John’s. Casually explore the cannons and stone walls that still exist today along the northern coast.
  • Opposite Fort James is Fort Barrington, a hilltop fortress with great views of St. Johns’s and the surrounding area.
  • The Museum of Antigua & Barbuda, located in St. John’s oldest building, showcases exhibits that outline the history of the islands.

  • St. John’s Cathedral is the most prominent church in Antigua. The large stone & brick structure in place today, is on the same ground as the original wood building constructed in the 17th century.
  • Betty’s Hope – The remains of a 17th century sugar plantation can be seen here, the highlights of which are two wind-powered stone mills. This historical site is located on the east side of the island.
  • Devil’s Bridge is an interesting limestone rock formation on the east coast of Antigua. A result of centuries of beating waves has created a natural bridge where sections of rock has eroded away. See the blowholes in action at high tide.
  • Cades Bay Agricultural Station is the home of Antigua’s famous ‘Black Pineapple’, considered one of the finest in the world. This site is located on the scenic south-west coast of the island.
  • Sea View Farm Village, located in the centre of Antigua, is typical of local Antiguan life, and is home to a number of local clay pottery makers.
  • Perhaps the kids would like to visit the Humane Society’s Donkey Sanctuary, located in the south-east of the island.

  • Barbuda’s bird sanctuary is home to the largest Frigate Bird colony in the Caribbean. There’s also a (hunting) game reserve on the island, where deer and wild pigs can be found.
  • Antigua’s off-shore islands, including Great Bird Island and Long Island, are also great places for bird watching
