Saint Kitts & Nevis Travel Information – Adventures & Things to Do
The Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis Islands, commonly referred to as “St. Kitts” or “SKN”, is a two-island Caribbean nation of the Lesser Antilles’ Leeward Islands. The island of St. Kitts is shaped like a chicken leg/drumstick, approximately 18 miles (30km) long by 6 miles (10km) wide, while Nevis is about 8 miles (13km) long by 6 miles (9km) wide. The islands are only 6 miles (10km) from their closest neighbour, Sint Eustatius to the north-west and are also not too far from Barbuda and Antigua to the East as well as Montserrat to the south. Regular ferry service connects the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis, which are approximately 2 miles (3 km) apart.
Saint Kitts and Nevis islands are the tops of a submerged volcanic mountain range, covered with rolling green folds of volcanic peaks and lush valleys, with more than a quarter of the islands being conserved via National Parklands. Saint Kitts is home to Mount Liamuiga, neighbouring Brimstone Fortress a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and miles of relaxing beaches. A St Kitts vacation and/or a Nevis vacation has plenty to offer travelers seeking action on land and sea.
