Popular Tourist Attractions & things to do in St Kitts
- An unique Scenic Railway tour, built in the early 1900s for the sugar industry, now operates for tourists. Located a mile or two north east of Basseterre.
- Brimstone Hill Fortress (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), with it’s formidable structure and spectacular views of the Caribbean sea – Is a must see for the history buff and sight-seeing tourist. Located on the west side of the island. (Pictured above)
- Romney Manor botanical gardens is worth a visit to see local flora, including a 400-year-old SAMAN tree and colourful ‘lipstick’ palm trees. Located on the west side of the island. (pictured on the right)
- Wingfield Estate Sugar Plantation Ruins are a historical treat, located adjacent to Romney Manor.
- Fairview Great House & Botanical Gardens has a restored 18th century home to tour along with a great south-west view of the Caribbean sea and gardens with local flora. Located on the west side of the island.
- Timothy Hill provides a dramatic view of the southest peninsula.
- The “Black Rocks” (ancient lava formations) are something to see along the north-east coast near the village of Bellevue
- The Government House is a large 19th century home in Basseterre, now home to the island’s Governor General
- Independence Square is a short walk from the port of Basseterre. This former slave market location is now a beautiful and tranquil setting – Sit on a bench and soak-up the Caribbean atmosphere…
- Impressive churches in Basseterre include St. Georges Anglican and the Church of Immaculate Conception
Looking for nature? Check out the Central Forest Reserve National Park on the west side of St. Kitts. You can also visit the St. Kitts Eco-Park, in the north-west corner of Saint Kitts, to stroll around a variety of greenhouses, gardens, and orchards, before grabbing some shade at their tea house.

- The Botanical Gardens of Nevis is a quiet place to enjoy the local flora. In the (south) shadow of Nevis Peak.
- The Museum of Nevis History is on the west coast of the island
- The Nisbet Plantation is located on the north end of the island
- Hot springs can be found on the west side of the island at Bath Village (south of Charleston)

Of course, there’s always beaches… Saint Kitts and Nevis have more than a dozen top notch public beaches. Some have white sand, and some have black (volcanic) sand. Most of the beaches are located around the south end of Saint Kitts and the north and west of Nevis.
